Introduction:

Everybody has a story to tell and we are no exception.

My name is Debbie Bishop. You will hear more about us as this blog unfolds day to day. I am the middle child with having an older brother and a younger sister. Susan Scholz is my younger sister and together we will share our story of a walk that we never anticipated with our precious 86 year old momma, Alice Lanier Byram, a momma of three, memommie of ten, seven great grandchildren, one son in law, a friend to many and mentor to many more.

Our momma has Cancer and it was suggested to us to blog our journey. We are sisters but there couldn’t be any two people that are different as Day and Night. However, we share a bond that holds us tightly together and in sync with one another, our Faith in Jesus Christ. Without Him, and His Grace we would be totally lost, alone, and without hope.

Our goal is to write about our individual thoughts and perceptions during this journey that is “A Steadfast Walk”.

Momma discovered a small knot under her arm the end of December,2020. None of us were alarmed at first, thinking it was an infection. She contacted her primary Doctor who jumped quickly on running test, but also prescribed antibiotic to eliminate an infection. The first biopsy wasn’t helpful with getting what the Pathologist needed to determine whether benign or malignant.

So a second biopsy was done and the results were not what we wanted to hear from the Doctor. “Mrs. Byram, you have a very rare Spindle Cell Cancer.” The Doctor proceeded to tell Susan who had taken the phone call and said that they were perplexed with this type of Cell. They had determined that is either Sarcoma or Melanoma. And it is a very angry aggressive Cancer. But they did not have an origin. There were more test that needed to be done and so the poking and prodding continued through this week with scans, lab work, and the removal of the Tumor yesterday along with all the lymph nodes. The Tumor was the size of a tennis ball! Think about that for a moment. That is huge which means it has been growing for a while. We now wait for the Pathology report to get back to us.

We invite you to follow us on this journey. Even in the darkest days we will find peace, laughter, joy by holding on to His steadfast love as we walk in His light. We will take the time to count His blessings because we don’t want to miss a single one.

Isaiah 26:3 "The steadfast of mind You will keep in perfect peace, Because he trusts in You.”  (Isaiah 26:3, NASB)
